I bought this Tamron 180mm macro lens after many years of using the equally great Tamron 90mm macro lens. I simply love the 90mm focal length but I was looking for a lens with greater working distance and better ability to control backgrounds.

This Tamron 180mm lens has proven to be excellent optically as well as ergonomically. It is also well designed as well. The lightweight, size, coupled with the very intuitive AF and MF push-pull autofocus designs are great for in the field work.
